“I’ve always worried our kids would fall behind in reading, and thus get a slow start to their educational journey. I am thankful that the school tested and saw our daughter was behind, and that they partner with GCED to provide resources in the home. It’s reassuring to know she’ll get caught back up and not fall behind. She also feels better about herself when reading, which fosters a love of books!”

“I tried to get all the fun educational toys but my daughter never wanted to play with them. But since working with the GCED Reading Center we were able to reiterate what she was learning at school.”

“If there’s one thing I’d like others to know about GCED, it’s that we are truly committed to supporting both students and educators in meaningful, lasting ways. GCED isn’t just about intervention programs or professional development-it’s about building a strong foundation for student success by equipping educators with the tools, training, and collaboration they need to make a difference.”

“The administration values, supports, and appreciates our work with students through providing supplies/resources and continuing education. The teams are good to work with and the caseloads are better here than in larger districts.”

“We are unique in the way that we approach working with students. The thing that I love the most is we don’t use cookie cutter solutions. We meet each student where they are at. This has shaped my approach to teaching, and my approach to ongoing education that I seek out. I want to know all the different ways and styles of doing things. I want to be at the top of my game and I aspire to be the best I can so that students can be the best they can.

Working at GCED has shown me that there is no one best way. What is best for kids is best for kids. Period.”

Our Expertise

We collaborate with our member districts to create a seamless and trusting partnership where we embrace each student who needs learning and instruction beyond the traditional school or classroom.

PARTNERS IN THE JOURNEY

GOODHUE COUNTY EDUCATION DISTRICT

Goodhue County Education District brings together six southeastern Minnesota school districts with one shared purpose: to ensure every student receives the individualized education, specialized services and adaptable environments they need to thrive.

By partnering with our colleagues in member districts, we provide effective and culturally responsive support and instruction, empowering students to succeed in learning and in life.

Our Partners

Our six collaborating districts—Cannon Falls Area Schools, Goodhue Public Schools, Kenyon-Wanamingo Schools, Lake City Public Schools, Red Wing Public Schools, and Zumbrota-Mazeppa Schools—form a strong partnership that put student needs at the center of all that we do. We are diligent in our work and focus on bringing the best minds together to stretch our thinking and create what each student needs.
